Al-Ghab Plain — fertile agriculture in Hama

Al-Ghab Plain is a fertile agricultural plain in Hama Governorate, Syria. It is flat land bordered by mountains east and west and crossed by the Orontes River. Historically, part of it was marshland drained in the 1950s by the General Authority for Al-Ghab Management and Development.

It is economically important for strategic crops such as cotton, sugar beet, wheat, and tobacco, as well as livestock and fisheries. It also produces freekeh from green wheat.

Location: central Syria, between the coastal mountains to the west and Jabal Al-Zawiya to the east. Length about 80 km; width about 10–15 km. Historic castles such as Apamea stand on its edges.
